Energy Justice Network is currently hiring in Philadelphia, PA and in Westchester County, NY.

Philadelphia Area Anti-Incineration & Zero Waste Organizer

Energy Justice Network supports grassroots community efforts to stop dirty energy and waste industry facilities, and to transition to clean energy and zero waste alternatives. Since its founding in 1999, Energy Justice Network has played either a lead or supporting role in numerous grassroots victories against incinerators, power plants, and various other polluting hazards throughout the United States.

In the Philadelphia area, we’re working to end the use of waste incineration, which is a serious environmental racism problem, particularly in Chester and Camden. Philly is surrounded by five trash incinerators -- the worst cluster in the nation -- all of which are among the region’s top ten air polluters. Waste incineration is the most expensive way to manage waste, polluting our environment more than landfills. Waste incineration also is the most expensive way to make energy, dirtier than coal burning.

The Philadelphia Area Environmental Justice Organizer will support existing campaigns and those of our member groups, and will expand on these campaigns to win the soonest possible transition from incineration toward zero waste strategies.
