No site has been determined at this point (May 2009), though this project will be in the western part of the state.

In January 2009 this project was put on hold due to 'regulatory uncertainty'. The North Dakota Industrial Commission is funding up to $10 million of this project. That funding commitment came in 2006.

In Jan 2010, American Lignite Energy requested another one year extension to study the plant. The company appears to be waiting to see Congress's action on climate issues before creating a strategy for development.
