Notes
From the Sierra Club:
In early 2006, Southern Company submitted a proposal for a 787 MW coal-fired power plant as an alternative to the proposed Taylor Energy Center in Taylor County, Florida. Under Florida's Power Plant Siting Act, the consortium of Florida utilities behind the Taylor Energy Center is required to explore alternatives to the proposed project to determine the most economical option for providing energy to the area. In May of 2006, the consortium determined that Southern Company's proposed project would be much more expensive than the original project and the company's proposal was dropped.
