TAKE ACTION FOR CLEAN AIR!

Do you know where your trash goes "away?"

If you're here, it's probably because your trash is burned in Montgomery County's #1 air polluter: the Covanta Plymouth trash incinerator next to Ikea and the Turnpike in Plymouth Township.

Your local government may soon be voting on where your trash goes for the next 2-5 years or more.

Please take a quick moment to send a message to your local officials asking that they look at all of their options, and choose not to burn your trash.

Other Montco municipalities are also considering Covanta contracts, but we don't have details on them yet. If you're not in one of these municipalities -- or even if you are! -- please fill out this volunteer form so that we can be in touch with you about how you can best be involved.

Trash incineration is the most expensive and polluting way to manage waste or to make energy -- dirtier than coal burning. By turning 70% of the trash into air pollution and 30% into toxic ash (sent to two landfills in nearby counties), it's actually worse for health and the environment than landfilling it all directly. We'd like your support in moving the county toward zero waste, but the first step is getting this aging and malfunctioning incinerator closed so we can all breathe easier, especially the local residents (and seven nearby schools) where they're regularly experiencing bad burned plastic odors and noise.
